There are plenty of places to practise. This is a place to belong. Discovery Family Therapy is a small South Perth practice built on one idea: that families do their best healing when they feel safe, and so do the people who care for them. If you have ever wanted to do your most careful work without leaving the harder families at the door, you can feel at home here.
What we are building
We are not a generic children's clinic. We hold the whole family, the adults and the children together, through grief, trauma, neurodivergence and the long work of recovery.
Increasingly, we walk alongside families through the parts most practices do not reach: helping them find the right supports, navigate self-managed and plan-managed funding, and get to the appointments they already have, including having someone go with them when they do not have the capacity to get there on their own.
People who lead with warmth and hold their nerve in complexity. We would love to hear from registered and licensed practitioners across many disciplines.
Registered and mental health nurses, and registered practitioners who understand the link between mental health and physical health.
Social workers, including accredited mental health social workers.
Support workers and support coordinators who help families reach and get to the supports they need.
Specialist counsellors and family therapists who work with the whole family in mind.
Psychologists who work relationally, with the whole family in mind.
Specialists whose expertise a family genuinely needs. We are open to the right person.
If your discipline is not on this list but you are family-focused and work to the psychosocial model, this can still be your kind of place. Reach out anyway.
Supervision, genuine backup, and colleagues who pick up the phone. You will not carry the hard ones alone.
A team that talks to each other, so clients do not have to repeat their story five times.
Internal referrals across the team, so when a client needs something you do not offer, a trusted colleague is often a room or a video call away.
Time and support to do careful, unhurried work with people, not throughput.
Practitioners join us under contractor arrangements, so you keep the independence of your own practice with a team around you.
A warm consulting space, plus the flexibility to see families across WA online, including FIFO households and Saturdays.
Tell us a little about you and the work that matters to you. No formal application needed to start.
We will talk about your practice, what you are looking for, and whether it is a fit both ways.
If it is right, we will shape something that works for you and the families we hold.
Much of our work is recovery from trauma. We are a recovery service, not a crisis service, so we build a calm, contained environment for clients and clinicians alike. If safety is ever at risk, we support people to the right emergency help.
We work with registered and licensed practitioners across many disciplines, including nurses, social workers, support workers, counsellors, family therapists and psychologists. If you are family-focused and work to the psychosocial model, we would love to hear from you, even if your discipline is not listed.

Not necessarily. We can talk about how referrals, caseload and scheduling would work for your situation when we meet.
We work from our South Perth space and online across Australia, and we can be flexible about how you practise, including Saturdays and FIFO-friendly hours.
Send us an email at admin@discoverytherapy.com.au and tell us a little about you, and we will be in touch for a relaxed conversation. It starts a conversation, not a formal application.
