Zaynab Supports

  • Children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, big emotions or emotional regulation difficulties.

  • Teenagers navigating self-esteem, identity, body image, friendships and school stress.

  • Young people showing early signs of disordered eating or body-related distress.

  • Families adjusting to separation, change or significant life transitions.

  • Parents looking for practical support in understanding what their child may be communicating through behaviour.

What it feels like to work together

Sessions with Zaynab are calm, gentle and collaborative. She takes time to understand what is happening beneath the surface while helping children, teenagers and parents find clearer ways to respond.

For younger children, Zaynab may use play-based and creative approaches so the session feels safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate. For teenagers, sessions are structured but flexible, giving them space to talk, reflect and build insight without feeling pressured.

Parent involvement in children’s counselling

For children and younger teens, the first session is usually a parent-focused conversation.

This gives you space to explain what has been happening, share your child’s strengths and challenges, and talk through what support may be most helpful. It also helps the counsellor understand the wider family, school and developmental context before meeting your child.

From there, Zaynab may work directly with your child or teenager while continuing to include parent check-ins where helpful. These check-ins support consistency at home and help parents understand how to respond in ways that feel calmer, clearer and more connected.

The aim is not to blame parents or children. The aim is to understand what is happening and build support around the child, so they do not have to carry it alone.

Most meaningful achievements

My experience includes working within the Department of Communities, Child Protection, supporting children, young people and families with complex emotional, behavioural and relational challenges.

Through this work, I developed strong skills in psychosocial and risk assessment, as well as collaborative planning within multidisciplinary teams.

I have also completed specialised training in trauma-informed therapy and child-centred play therapy, strengthening my ability to provide developmentally appropriate, thoughtful and clinically informed support.

These experiences continue to shape my structured, compassionate and ethical approach to care.

What makes me unique

Zaynab works alongside the Department of Communities, Child Protection, supporting children who may be navigating complex emotional, behavioural and relational challenges. This experience gives her a strong understanding of resilience, safety, trust and what children need when life has felt uncertain or overwhelming.

NDIS Participants Welcome

Discovery Family Therapy supports NDIS participants on self-managed and plan-managed plans. We are not a registered NDIS provider, which means funding must be managed by you or your plan manager — not the NDIA directly. If you are using your NDIS plan for counselling or therapeutic support, contact us to discuss whether we are the right fit.

If appointments are limited, we can still help you find the right support.
