Understanding your child’s story

Children often communicate distress through behaviour, avoidance, anger, tears, silence, clinginess, or withdrawal.

There may be signs that something feels too big, too confusing, or too hard to manage alone.

Our role is to understand what may be underlying the behaviour and then support both your child and your family with practical, compassionate strategies.

It’s all connected

/family support

A child’s emotions, behaviour, nervous system, relationships, school environment, sleep, family stress, and sense of safety are connected.

That is why we do not work with children in isolation.

We support the child while also helping parents understand what may be happening and how to respond with more confidence.

Your child’s counselling pathway

1

Parent session
We begin with you. This session helps us understand your child, your family, and what support may be needed.

2

Child sessions
Your child attends sessions using age-appropriate approaches such as play, creative expression, emotional skill-building, gentle conversation, and practical strategies.

3

Parent check-ins
Parent check-ins are recommended every 4 to 6 weeks to review progress and adjust support.

4

Support that carries home
Therapy works best when strategies are simple enough to use outside the therapy room, especially during real family moments.

Frequently Ssked Questions

Start with a parent-only session

The first appointment is usually with a parent or caregiver. This gives us time to understand what is happening for your child, what you have already tried, and what support may help at home, school, and in sessions.

From there, we can recommend whether parent work, child sessions, family sessions, or a combined approach may be most helpful.

Our team includes practitioners from different professional backgrounds. Each practitioner works within their own qualifications, professional memberships, registrations, and scope of practice.
