Specialist Training:

Simon is a provisional counsellor at Discovery Family Therapy, working with children, young people and families around family conflict, loss, anxiety, and trauma, using positive behavioural and cognitive interventions.

My Story

My favourite thing about being a counsellor:

I’ve wanted to be a therapist since I was in high school. I’ve always loved talking to people about their problems and helping them to work through complex issues. Being able to do that as my job is absolutely my favourite part.

What is unique about me as a counsellor?

I have multiple years of experience working with children from pre-primary to the end of high school, teaching a huge variety of topics. I’ve learnt skills and different ways of approaching issues from that experience, which helps me to continually improve my practice.

What are my goals?

I want to be able to provide mental health support to families and young people, particularly those in the LGBTQIA+ community and other underserved communities.

Most impressive Achievements?

While doing my Psychology Honours degree, I won a thesis presentation competition against Ph.D. students.

One quirky fact about me?

I’ve managed to break both my arms, one of my legs and my two front teeth, but I’m still standing.
