My Story
My favourite thing about being a counsellor:
When I moved from Austria to Perth with my husband, I found myself at a crossroads in both life and career, unsure what direction to take next. I wanted to do something that made a real difference and made me look forward to each new day with a smile.
After many years working in Europe’s fast-moving consumer goods industry, I realised that my qualifications were not easily recognised in Australia. Instead of seeing that as a setback, I saw it as an opportunity to follow what had interested me since I was seventeen: the study of emotions, thoughts and behaviours. This decision allowed me to do what feels most natural to me, supporting people through life’s challenges.
I feel privileged to walk alongside individuals, couples and families as they explore what matters most and find the courage to create meaningful change. I am grateful to provide a safe and compassionate space where people can talk openly about anxiety, anger, grief, shame or pain that may have been carried for a long time. I believe everyone has unique strengths and inner resources that can guide them toward a fulfilled and meaningful life. Sometimes, the path forward simply becomes clearer once a few of the stumbling blocks are removed.
What is unique about me as a counsellor?
Like everyone, I face challenges at times, and I see them as an important part of personal growth. Whenever difficulties arise, I am determined to keep going until I find a way through. I bring that same commitment and perseverance to my work. Every person’s life is unique, and there is no single approach that works for everyone. I see counselling as a collaborative process where we work together to understand what is happening and find practical and meaningful ways to move forward.
What are my goals?
The expectations and demands on parents have changed significantly over recent generations. I am dedicated to supporting single parents, families experiencing separation or divorce, blended families and parents facing mental health challenges to feel more confident and capable in raising resilient and happy children.
Most impressive Achievements?
My desire to help people through counselling carried me through the balancing act of family, work and study for ten years.
One quirky fact about me?
Every morning, my husband and I sit with our dog Narla and our three cats to watch what we call “a new episode of the bird movie” in our garden.
